How did Nasa Seasons start? How old were you? and who were the pioneers of the group? can you tell us the artists that are currently in the group and what they do?
NASASEASONS started as a group of teenagers willing to « change the game ». We didn’t want to make specifically clothes, events or music but rather art in general, and spread a message a the youth. We wanted to bring our own French hype with the streetwear world. We were 16 & 17 year old when it started.
The pionneers of the group were Antonym, Hugo Lieber, Neil Saada & Millinsky. Now we are a group of six people including : our beat producer (Edward Newgate), our singer (Hugo Lieber), our rapper (Apeshit), our consultant (Neil Saada), our manager (Sven) & our designer (Millinsky).
What was the idea / purpose of the group? Would you call it a group or perhaps a collection of talents? It is easy to see the variety of talents with in Nasa, but what is the main esthetic you try to portray?
The purpose of the group is from our point of view to have fun through everything we do, especially parties and meeting new people. Our idea from the point of view of the world is to spread a hype through materials, those materials can be a song, an artwork, a hat or a party. I would describe NASASEASONS as the ASAP MOB, we are a big family and we all take part in every project. Our personalities inspire each project and make everything we do more unique. The esthetic is indeed a « KEY WORD » for us, we wanna sell beauty. To be more specific we wanna sell an international fashionable lifestyle mixed with Hip-Hop. Soho style you already know.
You are all very young , and you have already been listed as one of the most influential young people , to what do you attribute this ? How would you say you reach out to the youth and somehow succeed so easily and so catching the attention of some well known to say the least artists ?
We are French and we showed to the public something unique. We quickly became the only French crew doing such « activies ». More and more people in the USA got interested by us and were impressed by the fact that we rap in English. Nowadays be « influential » means being good at using social media and know important people, that’s what we good at. Millinksy is a big user of Instagram and Twitter, he effecitively used those platform to share our message . Regarding catching attention of well know artists it is mainly due to the fact that we are from Paris and it is a city where a lot of artists come through for Fashion Week. We have used this opportunity to meet people such as Virgil Abloh, Theophilus London, Travis Scoot, Ian Connor, Uzi and more. Eventually we ended working with those people.
Tell me about the fashion part of Nasa, the way you dress as well as your designs; what is it you try to express in both ways? what is your audience?
We just trynna be cool. We ain’t big fashion addict with full givenchy or Raf Simons outfits, but rather cool kids having good fashion taste. Our design are made to fit any situations : walking in soho in NYC, go to a party in Paris or go to a wedding in Spain. International fashion. Our audience are kids interested about the streetwear culture and the future of Hip-Hop.
What about the music ? What would you say your style as a whole is ? Do you have any advice for aspiring rappers / djs/ designers?
Regarding the music we try to produce a diverse range of music. It can go from a casual song like we did with « In Silence » to a more hit club kind of song like we did with « Classified », which was then filmed by Uzi. In addition we try to make mixtapes every trimester so that people can feel are vibes. Our mixtapes are original and futuristic. Those mixtapes are also very representative of our DJ sets all around the world.
Our style is « modern cool kid », we know about all the new trends but at the same time we are not FOLLOWERS of fashion. We have our own style but at the same time we inspire ourselves from the cool trends.
Our advice to any person trying to start as a DJ, Rapper or Designer would be to create a real « story ». Nowdays not only it is important to be good at something, it is also important to build an interesting character that people want to follow (through social media). You have to become the new cool thing and not just the new rapper of the disctrict. Nowdays social media enable anyone to become anything as long as there is enough content and uniqueness to create a big fanbase. Thus go for creativity and make social media be your best friend.
